A Year of... TwentyFirsts!

21 21 21... its been a year of TwentyOnes! haha. It all started with my sister's 21st birthday in February. I just attended Andrea's (a NTU Campus Crusade friend) 21st birthday party last night, and there's Grace's 21st (NTU CCC too) up next on the coming Friday. That's not all. There's Yizhen's (ex-cell member) 21st in April, Shuling's (present-cell member) in May, and Eugenia's (NTU CCC.. yayyy!) in May too. That brings the tally to 6 by the time May comes around heh. I'm kinda amazed cos I don't remember attending so many in just half a year. I didn't realise that I know so many 86ers till now, haha.

I think birthday parties are FUN! =) Even though its mostly just eating, chatting and some games, its nice to be in the company of friends, and helping to make the evening more memorable for the birthday boy or girl. The recent parties have brought back memories of my very own 21st birthday party! The presents were great, but the best part for me was almost certainly having all my family and friends present to celebrate the occasion together.

I just looked through my photo archives and here are pics of my 21st birthday party, held at Costa Sands (Pasir Ris) almost 4 years ago. The theme was 'A Starry Night', and it was truly a very memorable evening! =) (Many thanks till now to all who came, and to Yizhen for the wonderful decor, esp. the banner, that night)

I had to blow all 21 candles one-by-one! heh

A Cool Bus

I sat a pretty cool bus on my way home today heh. Why cool? Cos of the interior! I think it was designed by Nokia as part of its marketing campaign. All the seats are aligned sideways and of white leather-like material. There's a rectangular tv screen displayed portrait style, and also 2 red bar-table-like high chair seats. I wonder if there're more of such buses around? =p

There was a nice turn of events for me on Monday. I won't elaborate too much but the result was that I get to work in Orchard this week, right opposite Far East Plaza! haha (I found a fruit store on the 4th floor that sells cheap and really sweet fruits). I get to work with nicer colleagues too, so praise God! =)

I finally stepped into the 'newly'-opened Bishan library. Not so new actually, considering its been open close to a year or more =p Argh, I haven't been reading enough 'real' books... less emails, more books!

Its Official! I have signed up for CM2007!!! YAYYY!!! haha =) I have been thinking and praying about it for quite awhile. I have not heard any direct message from the Lord, but that doesn't mean that He does not want me to go. The signs have been good. The 'path' has been very smooth so far, and this may very well be God's blessing for the trip. My reservist this year doesn't clash, and my leave for the period of the conference has already been approved =) Nevertheless, if I receive a clear word from God from now till then to do something else during that period, I believe I would.

If you'll like to find out more about this conference, please visit the website here:

Last year it was Japan, this year it'll be Korea, and I think I have next year's destination in mind already heh. Maybe China, for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing! =) That'll be quite cool I think. Anyway, I need to look for travel khakis for the trip to Korea now. Do let me know if you're going too! There's the NATAS Travel Fair coming up again next weekend and it might be a good time to make the travel arrangements.

I watched 'Just Follow Law' earlier in the evening and I have to say that it sure was funny! =) I had a really good laugh and would certainly recommend it. There have been quite a number of good movies of late and there're more to come. There's a 'Mr Bean' movie, 'The Robinsons', 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' (to re-live the childhood days, haha.. dunno if I'll watch this tho), Spiderman 3 and so on...

If you're wondering what's something that has been making me so busy, here's a clue for you! haha. The pic above is the draft poster design for my church's upcoming play on the 6th of April! Credit to D.Feng (a U.S.-based designer) for the background design. I just had to add in the fonts and position the background carefully heh. It sounds simple but it just took up my entire evening... inclusive of time spent setting up the blog for the play and designing the admission ticket too =p

I'm looking forward to the Good Friday and Easter Weekend! =) Craving for those chocolatey easter eggs already... haha.

Time Flies

Time has been flying really really fast for me... work has actually been a little less busy, but other activities have found their way into my crowded schedule. I'll be changing my msn nick when the blog is updated, so that those of you who drop by more regularly will know when to visit again.

My cell member has gotten into the final round of a Youth.Sg blogger contest, and I hope that she'll win it! Please vote for Lyn at the link below and help ask your friends to vote too =) It'll take just 2-3 minutes.

~S~h~a~k~e~

The earth trembled yesterday. After years of hearing about other Singaporeans feeling tremors, I felt it for myself for the first time while at work yesterday. I was on the 4th floor around Buona Vista. I'm sad for those who live nearer where the earthquake struck, but I guess one possible positive that one can take from disasters like these would be that it gives those who are more blessed the opportunity to help a fellow human being.

Some people have asked: If God is so good, why does He allow disasters or suffering to happen in the first place? I like to keep things simple where possible and you can find actually find the answer above. God hates evil (all the bad things), but one of the very likely reasons why He still allows disasters or suffering in this imperfect world is because it allows us mortal man to show true love to others when we help the suffering and needy. As the Bible says, God considers learning to love Him and love others the 2 most important lessons for any man to learn. If disasters or suffering were non-existent in this imperfect world, and everything was so good, it would be 'non-possible' to show true love and help others. Showing true love is an action and I understand it as doing something good for someone else without expecting anything in return at all.

Is the scenario above one that you might have ever imagined being in? If not, imagine that you are 'Bob'. The scenario above is a very real possibility if we are shy about letting others know that we are Christians, or if we do not actively share the Good News either directly or by inviting friends to church.

I think that I've been someone who has always been thankful to God for every one of the friends whom I have made, and that has caused the comic above to impact me even more. I know that I would feel very bad if I were to lose a friend to the evil one for eternity, and not help him/her go to heaven, especially if I had an opportunity to share the Good News but didn't do so.

I'm glad that Good Friday (6th Apr) and Easter (8th Apr) will be back again very soon. Would you help to save a life this year? =)

If you are reading this blog and not a Christian yet but would like to hear what the Good News (Steps to Peace with God/How to go to Heaven) is, please visit this webpage by Billy Graham:

The best decision I have ever made is to believe in Jesus and it is a decision that I have never regretted. I continually experience peace from God, much purpose and meaning to life, and His wonderful blessings =)

Take All Of Me

You broke the night like the sun
and healed my heart with Your great love
any trouble couldn't bear
You lifted me upon Your sholders

Love that's stronger
Love that covers sin
and takes the weight of the world

i love You
all of my hope is in You
Jesus Christ take my life
take all of me

You stand upon mountain tops with me
with You i walk through the valleys
Your grace is all i rely on

i love You so, and i give up my heart to say
i need You so, my everything

Sang this song at service last Sunday... and I have to say I it quite alot. Its inside the Hillsong 'For All You've Done' CD that I've had since a long time ago but haven't listened to it as much. Gonna start listening again to some of these older CDs that I've 'neglected' ... =p

- Playing 'Take All Of Me' on the blog now... its a big file so it'll take longer to load.
